Make The Hood Great Again T-shirts
These shirts symbolize the experience of being an "other" in the United States of America. Like a black panther in the jungle, we are always fighting for our survival. This experience breeds a "double consciousness" within us, in which the US simultaneously feels like our only home and our biggest enemy. Pride & pain battle within our psyches begging to be reconciled.
That is what the Make The Hood Great Again movement is all about, taking destiny into our own hands, envisioning a better Hood to raise our families, cultivate abundance and proudly call home.
The imagery was inspired by the Black Panther Party who were making the hood great long before this brand ever existed. As well as the Vietnam protests of the 70's where protesters placed flowers in the rifle's of the National Guardsmen called to suppress their freedom of speech, making an ugly thing beautiful. Finally, the AK-47 a global symbol of the revolution. We have found our choice of weapons and they are the tools of creation.
A portion of all proceeds will go to a community center on the South Side of Chicago, teaching art, yoga, urban agriculture and workforce development.
